Hi There Tarot Friends,

Wow, it's August already and my birthday is coming up fast!

The Full Moon in Aquarius is this Friday (along with my debut at House of Spirits), and we are still in the middle of Mercury retrograde.

For me, Mercury retrograde has been go, go, go (Mercury in a fire sign conjunct my natal mars). How about you? How has this Mercury cycle been for you?

If you are up early, you can see Venus and Jupiter coming together in the East before the sun rises. I live right in the city, so I can't see much in the night sky but I can sure see those two planets!

Use this simple 4 Tarot cards plus an oracle card spread to create your own roadmap for August.

Tarot Spread for August

I like to do a quick spread around the beginning of any month just to get a feel for what’s ahead. This one uses a mere 4 cards plus an oracle card.

You - this is the card of you. What’s your flavor this month? Are you dressed up to go to a formal function or in jeans and a t-shirt. The You card will give you insight into your attitude and roles for the month.

Biggest Challenge - what obstacles might you encounter? Where will you be focusing your energy? What goals do you have?

Biggest Victory - how will you break through obstacles? What good is coming your way? What is a cause for celebration?

Advice - advice, is, well, advice. How can you best handle the monthly weather? Should you plow forward no matter what? Take a vacation? Ask someone to help? The Advice card can help form your motto for the month.

Oracle - I like to pull an oracle card to wrap things up. The oracle card often acts as a highlighter, underlining a particular message from the entire reading.

Me - I’m showing up for August as the 10 of wands.

This is my birthday month, so it’s somewhat appropriate that I pull a 10, as I enter a new cycle on my birthday.

The 10 of wands can indicate being overworked or burn out, or just a need to sort things out a bit and decide what is most important. I can relate to that because I’ve been feeling very scattered with my work projects. I feel like I need ONE objective, or at least fewer than I have right now.

Biggest challenge - 6 of pentacles - balance

This card continues the conversation around needing a give and take and balance to where I am investing my resources. Ideally, I’d like to get something out of all of my efforts (LOL). I say LOL because as an online creator, you get used to putting in mountains of effort for very little recognition, money or anything else.

This reminds me of the 80/20 principle - what’s the 20% of effort that yields 80% of benefit? I think that part will need some teasing out.

Biggest victory - Judgement 20 (or Awakening)

I prefer the title of Awakening over Judgement for card 20 of the Major Arcana.

For the spot I’m in personally right now I see this card as twofold. One fold is finding my why around business projects. What’s the higher purpose I want to serve with my work?

The other fold is around my personal spiritual growth. I kinda went through a dark night of the soul for the past few months and feel like now I am seeing the light. We will see what develops there.

Advice - The Hermit

The Hermit is telling me to stay quiet and keep walking the path I’m on with deliberate steps. My inner teacher or inner guide knows the way, just keep my senses open for signs and messages along the way.

With the Hermit as advice, this isn’t time for bold, showy moves (even thought it is Leo season!)

Oracle Highlight - The Deer card emphasizes this idea of treading softly and following the trail through the woods. Stay alert as I come out into the light of day with the Judgement card.
