My Tarot hand at the moment: Wheel of Fortune

Recently I was thinking about what Tarot cards are in play for me right now.

The Wheel of Fortune has come up a few times in the daily draw, and I particularly like the version from the New Era Elements Tarot.

The card from New Era Elements pictures a roulette wheel, a Jack and the Ace of Spades, and the Latin phrase "faber est suae quisque fortunae".

Roulette and cards are games of chance. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

When I see the Wheel of Fortune come up in a reading, I will sometimes say, "You can't win if you don't play".

But what's up with the Jack and Ace?

I hadda look that up.

I'm assuming those 2 cards are a blackjack hand. You gamblers and card players out there, let me know. I'm clueless!

From my research, I concluded that this hand is a winning 21 hand, but is not a natural blackjack, which pays more.

There was additional information about splitting Aces, which I don't understand.

What I gather is you have a choice how to play this:
use the Ace as 1
use the Ace as 11

Hmmm... so we have introduced a choice.

And finally the Latin phrase

"faber est suae quisque fortunae".
"Each man is the maker of his own fortune"

This phrase brings us to the fate vs. free will debate.

Do we have any free will or is everything fated? If everything is fated, then how do we live out our destiny?

Fate vs. Free Will

Fortune telling often gets criticized for hamstringing the client by telling them what is fated and locking them into a headspace where they are unable to make changes.

I have an alternative perspective on fortune telling, and I suppose you do too if you are reading this.

In my opinion, fortune telling, whether it be Tarot, Lenormand, astrology, runes or anything else, helps us sort out what is fated and where we have some latitude to direct our destiny.

Your fate is the cards you are dealt. How you play the hand is up to you.

Yes, we've all heard that before.

But really think about that.

  • One of your options is to get up and leave the table and try a different table.
  • Or sit out the next round.
  • Or grab some beautiful woman and have her blow on the dice for good luck.

Divination systems such as Tarot and astrology can help you see the context of the hand your playing so you can make more informed choices.

When it comes down to it, luck is luck, and fate is fate.

But we all keep playing till the end, meaning death.

Circling back around to what I said in the beginning:

You can't win if you don't play!

Synchronicity - January is a 10 month

I just realized as I was writing this that January is a 10 month!

2025 is a 9 year (2+0+2+5=9)

January is the 1st month (9+1=10)

How has the Wheel of Fortune showed up for you this month?
