OMG it's another Major Aracana Card

So you just pulled another Major Arcana, maybe it’s Judgement 20 , and you don’t really know what the bleep this card is trying to say.

Oh crap, where’s my book?

Don’t worry.

In today’s episode, I’m going to teach you how to create a framework that comes from your own brain—

Little hooks to hang the Majors on so you’ll always have something to say and a place to start when that card comes up.

Sigh of relief. 😅

Looking for a way to tackle the minors? Try this.

Why Does Disney Make Fairy Tale Movies?

Cuz they stick in our brains.

A Fairy Tale is like a delicious piece of sourdough toast dripping with butter.

Mmmm… taste the Tarot (that’s a reference to the Spreads and Spells podcast).

Anyway, fairy tales have a moral, and that’s what we remember.

  • Cinderella - your present circumstances don’t determine your ultimate worth
  • Tortoise and the Hare - slow and steady wins the race
  • Emperor’s New Clothes - don’t accept something just because everyone else believes it (or says they do)

So what if you could work some Disney magic on the Major Arcana?

One Memorable Phrase

Pick a card that already speaks to you.

Even if you’re not quite sure what it’s saying, but the card draws you.

  1. Start by writing down what you already think about the card.
  2. Then, yes, get out the references. Look up definitions and correspondences. What have others said about the card?
  3. Now FROM what you gathered, boil it down to one memorable phrase…
For example, I call the Judgement card “the coming out card”. Because not only is it about hearing the call, but there’s a price attached to answering the call.

It’s similar to what I imagine coming out is to a non-hetereo human.

And that’s it.

That’s your touchstone.

Maybe it’s a famous quote,
a saying,
a line from a poem,
something a character says in a movie…

You are by no means reducing the card to this catchphrase.

The catchphrase is for YOU! So you’ve got a place to start. Something to riff on.

Later on you can explore 500 years of Tarot history and Jungian symbolism. But for now, you need a little crack in the door.

So the next time Judgement lands on the table, instead of thinking “Oh crap, where’s my book?” you’ve got a place to start.
