Hi There Tarot Friends, Well here we are in 2026. We made it! I'm neck deep in moving. The actual move happens next week so I've got a bit of tunnel vision going. It's such an odd feeling right now, and I think I'm not the only one feeling it. Maybe it's just the classic Janus one head toward the past one head toward the future configuration happening. New beginnings yes, clearing the old yes, but the future is still unclear. I think that will be revealed with the fireworks of Aries season shortly after Saturn and Neptune conjoin on February 20. Anyway, I'm jumping ahead. Let's stay in the moment here and savor the silvery light of the Moon and Jupiter and the star Sirius. How did I come up with the High Priestess and the Devil for January?Capricorn corresponds to the Devil card. January is the first month (1). What I find interesting here is that both of these cards operate in the dark- - The Devil loves the shadows. The cupcake eaten at 1 a.m. The High Priestess is the keeper of secrets. Consider this:I’ve often paired the High Priestess with the Hierophant. But January suggests a different pairing. Perhaps the High Priestess and the Devil belong together. Not as opposites, but as collaborators. Two shadow workers. Here we are at the beginning of an exciting new year. A Wheel of Fortune year.But the High Priestess and the Devil ask us to check the shadows. Check the blind spots. Have we cleaned up the old patterns, old obligations and associated guilt before setting new goals and resolutions?
The Devil card and Capricorn SeasonCapricorn season occurs during winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Cold. The light is scarce, though slowly returning.
